Going for Gold: The Power of Bold Moves in Sales and Life
How being unapologetically different can set you apart and propel you to greatness.
Hey, it’s Kayvon Kay,
Today, I want to talk about something close to my heart: being bold.
If you’ve followed my journey, you might already know this—I’m 40 years old, and I’ve made a wild, audacious decision: I’m going to the Olympics in 2026.
Let that sink in.
Most people would call it crazy. And maybe they’re right. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: bold moves create extraordinary outcomes.
Whether in sales, business, or life, playing small will only keep you small. Going for gold requires stepping into the unknown, pushing boundaries, and standing apart from the crowd.
Let me break it down.
Being Different is Your Edge
In sales—and life—being different isn’t just an option. It’s a requirement.
Think about it.
The best closers, the top entrepreneurs, the real winners—they all stand out because they dare to show up differently. They don’t follow the crowd. They rewrite the rules.
For me, being bold enough to say, “I’m going for the Olympics,” isn’t about the medal. It’s about the mindset. It’s about deciding that no matter the odds, I’m willing to do what most won’t even dare to try.
What about you? Where are you holding back because you’re afraid of what people might think?
Boldness in Sales = Results
Let’s tie this back to sales.
Boldness in sales means:
Asking the hard questions your competitors are too scared to ask.
Holding space for your prospects to feel seen, heard, and understood—when others rush to close.
Demanding premium pricing because you know your value and refuse to settle for less.
When you show up boldly, prospects don’t just see you as another salesperson. They see you as a leader.
And leaders close deals.
Where Are You Playing It Safe?
Here’s a challenge for you:
Take a good, hard look at your life and ask yourself:
Where am I playing it safe?
Where am I avoiding risk because I’m scared of failure or rejection?
What would it look like if I went all-in?
Because here’s the truth: the magic doesn’t happen when you’re comfortable. The magic happens when you commit to going for gold—even when it scares you.
The Courage to Be Bold
Boldness isn’t about having no fear. It’s about feeling the fear and doing it anyway.
I’ll admit, the idea of competing at the Olympics terrifies me. But every time I step into that fear, I grow. And that growth spills into every area of my life—my business, my relationships, and my purpose.
This is your invitation to be bold. Not reckless, but bold. To make the move you’ve been hesitating on. To go after the dream that seems too big, too crazy, too impossible.
Looking Foward
The truth is, life is short. And the only way to make it count is to show up as your boldest, most unapologetic self.
In sales, that means standing out. In life, that means chasing dreams that scare you.
And when you do, the world notices.
So, I’ll leave you with this:
Where in your life are you playing small? And what’s the bold move you need to make today to start going for gold?
Here’s to being different, standing out, and winning big.
To your success,
Kayvon Kay
